But without even requesting a review the VHSL has already requested game film to look over cause there even curious about the last 30secs of the game.....I'd like to take this time to quote a group of Clintwood fans that I recorded and interviewed at the end of the game....."Honestly?...I'm not gonna lie, I am very happy that the Greenwave and LPD pride brought home the state championship trophy, but in my heart I know we got lucky today cause that Tide team was very very good!! (another Clintwood fan) Yea, I mean yes we did score 14pts on our own but the rest we got lucky and had handed to us because of some faulty kicks and then got that huge break when Galax blew there coverage on that 4th down play. (Another Clintwood fan) Yea cause Galax showed the entire game that when they wasn't making mistakes there was nothing we could do to stop them on both offense and defense which surprises me cause we so much bigger than them, but yea I agree with everyone else, had we not go those few breaks Galax would of killed us and we all know that, but still yet im glad we won".......Those were clintwood fans talking need I remind you...I didn't speak to a single Clintwood fan that said the greenwave flat out beat Galax. Spoke to plenty that said you all got lucky. Honestly, there were just about 3 plays the entire game that I was impressed with in dealing with Clintwood and there were, the long pass in the 2nd half for a TD, the 30yrd run in the 2nd half for a TD, and the fact that you all did run some clock with the running game in the 2nd half despite not being able to put points on the board, the truth of the matter is and I as well as every other news station and analyst that was there all have unanomously agreed that (minus the natural wind elements that helped Clintwood and Galax's one blown coverage on the 4th down play that resulted in a touch) Galax completely dominated this game, they out ran, out passed, had more yardage on special teams, and more tackles for loss's and interceptions....Clintwood simply had some FANTASTIC things go there way with some kicks and such which resulted in Cake touchdowns, take those away and its Clear that Galax steamrolls over the greenwave in this game, not mention that Galax STILL almost won the game....But Clintwood is the State Champions and much congradulations to them
    Paragraphs are your friend.

    Re: Clintwood vs Galax

Clintwood wins without their starting quarterback. Without their best DB. With their star running back hobbled and wearing a knee brace and with their star linebacker and fullback playing in pain.

Healthy, Clintwood wins this in a walk.

All great points. I don't suppose that Galax wants the VHSL to review the earlier PI on the last drive or the phantom facemask against Gavin. Also, did the last pass not go out the back of the endzone? Also, #8's long TD, he stiff armed Austin straight to the ground. Long story short, Galax got beat by a Soph making his second start at QB and the second coming of Jerry Rice was held under 100 yards by a 5'8" Freshman who played a great game.

    Re: Clintwood vs Galax

Simple as this sports writer, Clintwood went through out the playoffs going against opponents who were suppposed to do nothing but beat Clintwood like a drum for the simple fact that Clintwood plays old school I formation football that is outdated by atleast 15 years and their Defense just cant handle the new style speed programs. Well after everything is said and done, Clintwood faced not one not two but three teams that were "better, faster, and more up to date" football teams and won! Not only did Clintwood win, they won using second string fill in players and that old worn out usless style of football that just should not be played anymore. They (greenwave) done what the LPD has done 20 times out of 41 years of state games. That is prove to everyone else in the state that a bunch of big, stong, determined country boys can go in and lay the wood over and over and over until they come out on top. Its a proven fact that if you exchange chin rocking hits for receptions eventually those headaches cause kids to get gunshy and miss a few of their needed plays. The LPD was very well repersented by the Wave in this season's playoffs IMO. Simply put, smashmouth football will win more often than not. Ive seen it too many times.

    Re: Clintwood vs Galax

If and when VHSL does review the film I'm sure they'll see several things, as would happen in virtually any game they chose to review. Film should clearly show that the QB was brought down and was on both knees before tossing the ball but wasn't called down, I think this was around the 30 second mark or somewhere thereabouts. The PI call that took the ball to the 18 was questionable at best.

As to the last play, the official was a few feet away, the rest of us were yards away from the play, but don't we all know it's much easier to call a ballgame from the stands? (insert sarcastic tone here). I've read comments from several REAL sports analysts who all seem to agree that's not a call you make, hell, even Dixon said it would have been the wrong call to make. There are a series of pics of the last play on some guy's site and really, I know George has a great vertical leap, but based on the position of his feet and the position of the ball before there was any contact (one foot is not in any position that would give him any boost up at all and, in fact, he appears to be losing his footing, and the ball is wayyyy up there) it would have been a superhuman feat to have caught that ball.

I would suggest that Mr. Destiny get back on his medication forthwith and try to regain his grip on reality. That is, if he ever had one to start with.

I just get a kick of how poeple hate on the LPD and the teams therein. We have no business winning games, we were good at one time but not now, the LPD cant compete outside of SWVA. I mean the numbers speak for themselves, we win and we win consistantly. Galax is just another team that has fell victim to the heart of the the LPD, no different than Sussex, Madison, Middlesex, Lunenburg, and so on! with a win ratio of atleast 70% and twenty victories out of 41 years who can honestly argue that the LPD is not one of the best conferecnes in the state

The LPD is the strongest single A district in the state since the current playoff system was incorporated, that really isn't even up for debate. You'll have people pointing out a recent drought. I didn't say the LPD was the strongest A district in the state in any given year. I mean big picture, and that's not even debatable.

10000000% agree with ya there Gotch. Over all the LPD is the toughest A district in the state. Yeah we've had some weak years but 20 out of 41 aint too shabby my man!

    Re: Clintwood vs Galax

From the stands the last play looked close to being interference. However, after seeing a couple of replays from the local news in Roanoke I think the no call was the right call. Shouldn't have been that close anyway. Clintwood was clearly the better team.

How many runner ups are in there as well? You have to figure in that as well, might not have won but was playing for it and that makes an even stronger case.
